Description
Lesser Giant
Lesser Giant is a playable race which is located on
Thestra. They live in
Halgarad in the
Highlands. Presumably Lesser Giants are the largest playable race in
Vanguard, standing at eight to nine feet on average.
An interesting clue to the history of the Lesser Giant race can be found in the lore extract referring to the Orc War. When humans sought the aid of the giants of the eastern mountains, the giants brokered a deal which is said to have cost the humans dearly. Details of what this deal would be have not been revealed, but it is noteable that there is no reference to Lesser Giants being involved in the Orc War. Lesser Giants are also known as Half-Giants.
Official Description
Towering over all of the other races of Thestra stands the Lesser Giant. As the largest and strongest race on Thestra they are often viewed by others with a sense of awe and wonderment. They rarely leave their mountain home of Halgarad, which they share with the Varanjar, and even less frequently wish to involve themselves in the affairs of other races.
However, the undead invasion has forced them to begin to change their culture of solitude in order to survive. Though they are safe for now in the northeastern most mountains of Thestra, they are much smarter than they are often given credit for and have the foresight to see that what appears to be the other races' problem now will eventually be their problem later.
Lesser Giants are hard workers, much preferring to labor with their hands than over a scroll or book and have a simple, uncomplicated view of life.

Relevant Lore
"Most half-giants stand between eight and nine feet high. One characteristic seen in almost all subjects is a more muscular build in comparison to humans. This is obviously a trait passed down through their giant-folk ancestors."
The Peoples of Thestra and Its Environs
As the orcs scoured the land in search of their next target, the human army raced off in three directions. One division rode high into the eastern mountains and beseeched the giants for their aid. A deal was brokered. One that would cost them greatly, but the humans had no choice. Reluctantly, they agreed.
A History of Thestra
"We observed a shooting star one night during our time in Falgarholm. There was much commotion in regards to this spectacle. It appears the Highland folk call a shooting star "Rurkogd's Spear" and anyone privileged to see it is blessed by the god. The Guardian or The Provider, as Rurkogd is also known in this society, is said to distribute his fortunes to his worshippers by throwing his mighty spear across the heavens. I am told young half-giants have been known to follow the path of the spear across the land in hopes of finding the actual projectile."

The Peoples of Thestra and Its Environs
Some casual observers have labeled giant society uncivilized. Had they looked further, they may have realized their error. Falgarholm has an ancient heritage that has remained more intact than any of Thestra's other races. Anyone spending a significant length of time in their ancient city cannot escape the ties these citizens have to this history and the great pride they take in their bloodlines.
