Content in Vanguard is aimed toward both player character levels and numbers. Content can be designated as solo or grouped as casual, full party or as raid. These variations all signify the intended number of players who join together in combatting a situation. The outcome or reward for an encounter may change if greater or fewer players than the intended number participate.

The precise number of players who constitute a 'full party' (as opposed to a casual party) has not been announced, but it is believed to be between six and eight players.

A casual party is a smaller group of players (possibly two to three players only). Casual content may be designed for solo players to small groups.

Members of a party are able to interact with each other in an enhanced way; able to see displays of hit points and actions, to share a specific party chat channel and to share in the effects of group spells.

The party is the core adventuring concept to be found in Vanguard. A group of talented individuals who band together to seek out peril, fame, rewards and the occasional handsome young prince in need of rescue.
