Malachite says, "One of the first to fall to the undead was Palpenipe, our master of the rune portals. The undead turned him into one of them, and with his aid, they are bringing even larger numbers of troops through the portals."

"Palpenipe has become a traitor in death, and must be slain so the gnomes have a chance to survive."

"Do not return to me when you have succeeded; I have no way to reward you. Instead, go to Professor Telpon, deeper in the warehouse. He will find a gift for you."

Find and slay Palpenipe, the undead gnomish master of the rune portals. Report success to Professor Telpon, who is stationed deep in the warehouse.

Professor Telpon says, "With Palpenipe gone, we have lost our knowledge of the rune portals - but then, so have the undead invaders."

"They will not be able to bring as many troops through the portals, now."

"There is only one appropriate way to reward you for your fine actions, and that is to grant you these memory crystals."

"We use them as a sort of currency around here. Just hand them over to one of the professtors in exchange for whatever items look useful to you."
