From Vanguard Wiki
A level is a means of showing progression and development in a game. Characters usually start out at level one, which indicates that they have skills, abilities and attributes of an inexperienced and untested person.
In most games characters do not age, but through activities such as combat or crafting they may gain experience to signify their development. When sufficient experience accrues in a particular gaming sphere, the character may gain a level to show that they have advanced.
The result of gaining a level can be access to new spells or abilities, increased attributes, or advanced skills. Sometimes the change can be marginal, but there are often milestone levels in games, where significant skills and abilities are gained.
[edit] Character Level
Characters in Vanguard are able to progress from level 1 to 50.
On the mob targetting icon are dots which indicate encounter types, and which are colored according to their level relative to the character targetting the mob.
- Grey - More than five levels below the character. Does not give XP.
- Green - Three to four levels below the character, making it a relatively easy kill, but with little XP as a reward.
- Light Blue - Two levels below the character.
- Dark Blue - One level below the character.
- White - Equal to the character in level. Usually a good match.
- Yellow - One or two levels above the character. Difficult, but with good XP rewards.
- Red - Three or Four levels above the character. Very difficult, but still considered possible for a talented player.
- Purple - More than four levels above the character. You will probably lose.
The dots also say how hard a mob is for it's level.
- 1 Dot - Easy for the level
- 2 Dots - Soloable
- 3 Dots - Small group of 2-3 players
- 4 Dots - Group of 4-6 people
- 5 Dots - Experienced 6 person group
- 6 Dots - Raid Mob (raids are currently not in the game)
This means that a level 5, 2 dot is easier than a level 4, 3 dot, for example.
