[edit] Dwarves

Dwarves are a playable race located on Thestra. Dwarves are a short, stocky people, who favour beards and good ale. They are associated with the elements of Fire & Earth. They had previously left their home of Dargun's Tomb and built Bordinar's Cleft out of the Widow's Veil Mountains.

[edit] Official Description

Master craftsmen and fierce warriors the dwarves of Thestra live in the underground city of Bordinar's Cleft, deep in the Widow's Veil Mountains. They currently stand at the front line of the undead invasion, with the humans, halflings and vulmane already having been forced to move elsewhere and it is a task they readily accept.

Their home, much like themselves is sturdy and built to last. The sounds of dwarves busily forging armor and weapons with a skill and discipline that is unrivaled on Thestra can constantly be heard echoing through the grand halls of their city.

While often viewed as grumpy and dour by other races the dwarves actually have a very good sense of humor and once befriended, an unwavering sense of loyalty. They are much stronger than their size would imply and tend to lean towards more physical professions.

[edit] Faction Information

The following starting cities will be KoS to Dwarves upon creation.

[edit] The Dwarven People

"I was struck by the normal activities that carry religious significance for the people of Bordinar's Cleft. Smithing an exceptional weapon or brewing excellent ale is a form of worship to these dwarves. It is accepted that the gods are part of their lives and responsible for both their fortunes and failures."

The Peoples of Thestra and Its Environs

"Most dwarves are stocky and quite muscular. Most all of the men sport beards. Fantastical tales of bearded dwarven women is certainly a fiction as I never witnessed a single dwarven woman with any type of facial hair. A typical dwarf reaches adolescence in his late 20's and reaches full maturity around 30 to 35 years of age. It is not uncommon to find dwarves nearing 200 years old prior to death."

[edit] Dwarven Clans

There are several sub-clans within the Dwarf city. Within the Sanctum of the Sacred Flame, Koburn Darkvein (Glyph Master) and Reader Laagnar maintain a pile of scrolls that describe the various clans, their alliances, and their contribution to the history of the dwarven city. Briefly listed, the clans are:

[edit] Welcome to Young Dwarves

The following note is displayed to dwarves who enter the land of Telon without going through the Isle of Dawn.

Welcome young one!

You've been called to Shaletooth Tower outpost up the windswept mountain pass from the stronghold at Bordinar's Cleft. King Flamehammer himself sent you here to begin your training. Like generations before you, the jagged crags and shallow valleys of the Widows Veil Peak Mountains have served as the proving grounds for those called upon to serve and protect the city.

As with all beginnings, we will start you off slowly and attempt to mold you until you are ready to move father down the mountain toward the city. With the undead attacks on the rise from the west, and the Gwartok Clan kobolds becoming more and more organized with each assault, the challenges of protecting our way of life have never been more perilous. Emissaries from the elven city of Leth Nurae and the human settlement of Tursh are sending pleas asking for our help. Truth be told, we are spread dangerously thin already and can ill afford to send more battalions to the western walls. To make matters worse, the Seers of the Cleft feel a deep rumbling beneath the city rivaled only by the thundering ancestral cries deep within Dargun's Tomb. Observe and learn all that you can here.

Remember, Vothdar's blessing comes to those who are both brave and wise. Do not rush into battle unprepared. There is purpose in all that you do. Find this purpose, and stay the course. The path ahead is filled with danger.

Tread wisely, pray humbly, and strike fiercely. Make Flamehammer proud.
