In the lore serial Secrecy's Price, Dorrin is overheard discussing Necromancy. He later instructs his own former student, Hanrick Lantier, to take the boy who overheard him, Rendil Wainscott, on as an apprentice.

"I am saddened by the choice of Dorrin Longreat as the new Master of the Sages Arcane. To say that my opposition to his appointment will make my time, as well as my contributions to this body, difficult is a severe understatement. Unfortunately, the members don't realize the loss we have incurred with the passing of Gelgar Lonstat. This is the last you will hear fro me for awhile. I am heading to Left Nurae to research more into my "project". My days with the Sages Arcane are numbered."
