The offensive fighter is a classic RPG archetype. It represents a character capable of dealing massive amounts of physical damage at the expense of the ability to wear heavier armors and mitigate damage as well as a defensive fighter. Offensive fighters will most likely vary greatly in their method and style. Rangers will excel at martial and ranged (bow combat). A traditional Monk would excel at unarmed hand-to-hand combat. While Monks will have a a greater ability to protect themselves than a caster (and will have some ability to protect others) they will probably prefer to group in order to focus on their offensive abilities. Other offensive fighters are the Rogue, Bard and Berserker.
Sometimes offensive fighters are known as "light fighters" and defensive fighters as "heavy fighters".
